Use Your Voice

The future didn’t ask for permission to show up, it just did, and it's in the form of a user name and password on the GPT of your choice.
So, like it or not, the debate of whether or not Chambers should use AI is behind us. That doesn't mean you need to be an AI expert, just not an AI avoider.
And loving AI isn't a pre-requisite to doing your job, however refusing to give it a chance feels a bit like insisting on faxing in a Wi-Fi world.
Personally, I was very stubborn about using AI (I thought it would compromise my creativity) and now I’m developing Chamber-themed GPT’s for clients such as you.
Nobody is as shocked by this than me!

So, I agreed last week when the CEO of the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, Rhonda Tulk-Lane (Pictured) shared that one of her TOP 5 TIPS for running a successful Chamber is to:
FULLY EMBRACE AI.
She’s right.
And like anything, if you’re going to do it, do it right.
To enjoy using AI, you have to figure out a way to use it that sincerely feels and sounds like you, so the question is:
Does your AI-inspired content sound like you?
Or do you mostly copy and paste what it writes for you rather than making sure it sounds like something you’d actually say?
Let’s expand on how you can do this AI business stuff the right way.

Bring On The Typos
Quite often, I’ll say I actually like spotting typos or reading something that doesn’t flow perfectly, because it makes me feel there’s a chance a human wrote it.
I'm not really encouraging typos. I'm just saying that since AI exploded, you’ve probably read things where something feels… off.
You open an email or read a social post.
The message is polished but it feels like 100 other people could have written it.
It sounds like AI.
That’s because many people aren’t checking their work before it goes out the door. They think“hey, if AI says this is good enough, it must be, right?”
No. Not at bit.
It needs your personal touch. Your spin.
If your members, sponsors and anyone else reading your material feel what you’re writing is generic, there’s a high probability that:
1. You begin to lose credibility
2. They’ll quietly disappear on you and not tell you why

So, what’s the solution?
Your Chamber already has a voice.
Use it.
Whether you’ve written it down or not, your Chamber has a tone.
It’s shaped by:
your community
your members
your leadership style
your lived experience
It’s shaped by the way you already communicate.
Which means you don’t have to start from scratch.
You just have to open to letting AI support you, not replace you.
A quiet next step

I’m working on Chamber-themed GPT’s to help you with the above and more.
Designed to:
reflect how Chamber leaders actually speak
understand the realities of small teams and limited capacity
help you create content that feels like it came from your desk, not a robot
If you’re curious about how these custom GPT’s could speed up your day and strengthen your content, please reach out.
No pressure.
Just something to keep on your radar.
_________
You don’t have to totally jump on the AI train
Just stop standing on the tracks.
Nobody has to be a mind-reader to know you don’t have time to write everything from scratch, so start with what you already know and have because I bet it’s already fabulous!
If you've read this far, thank you. I quite like writing, so I won't use AI to write my articles, however, I will use it to try and catch those pesky typos!
